Students are natural learners when the content is dynamic and contextual rather than a series of disassociated facts and procedures. Students’ learning should not be isolated from their world but should be connected to the world in which they exist.

By observing the world around them and being taught to translate their observations into mathematical and scientific principles, they can create and image solutions to issues, or better yet, ask questions that have not been asked.

We act as extreme facilitators of learning. We help students connect to something meaningful through their work and help them create meaning out of information.

WHAT PARENTS and STUDENTS SAY ABOUT US

“Bill is extremely enthusiastic and brings fun to math learning, he helped me bring my grade from low B to A in a short period of time. Thanks Bill!”

– Sarah, Kinnelon Public High School

“My junior son received private tutoring from Seneer from Radical Learning for the SAT Math II exam. Seneer is a superb mathematician and easily communicated complicated ideas to my son and helped him achieve an 800 on the exam. We are thrilled with all the tutoring help we have received from Seneer and all the other Radical Learning tutors. We would highly recommend the center.”

– Lynn — (Mom) , son is a Mountain Lakes High School senior

The first time I went through the college application process, I was rejected from every school that I wanted to attend. Shortly thereafter, I decided that I would apply to my first choice schools a second time, as a transfer student. I quickly realized that I would need help, and I could not be more thankful that my sister, Julia, referred me to Mrs. Sheppell and her team of tutors at Radical Learning. My experience with Radical Learning, both in person and via email, has been nothing but positive. Mrs. Sheppell and Thomas Hoffmann spent hours revising my work with me, and their comments and suggestions provided me with the constructive criticism I deeply needed. I feel that my essays turned out to be some of the strongest I have ever written, and I’m an English major! This past May, I was accepted to my first choice school, Barnard College, and I believe that going to Radical Learning gave me the ability to take my application from good to exceptional.

– Carly, Boonton Township, NJ (former Mountain Lakes HS Student)

“Mrs. Sheppell literally saved my school math career. I was giving up because I just did not understand what I was learning. I go to Mrs. Sheppell every week. I now understand and I am enjoying math and feel that I can do the honors class that I was recommended for next year.”

– Ashley, Kinnelon, NJ, Student, Kinnelon Public School

“There is a uniqueness about the environment and the teachers. They are 100% focused on the individual student. My son was starting to check out of math class. After attending Radical Learning through the school year, he is reengaged in math and knows that they will teach him how to use the topics covered in school.”

– John, Denville, NJ, Father of Denville Public School student

“Kim Sheppell’s summer preview class prepared my daughter to take on her honors class. In fact, when the material was not taught in her school class, my daughter still knew and understood the information because of the preview.”

– Dawn, Summit, NJ, Mother of a Pingry student
